Challenge
Send a prayer text. Maybe to a friend, a neighbor, or an unbeliever.
(Please exhibit safe driving techniques while praying and driving – i.e. don’t close your eyes. Do not text and drive.)
Tips
Prayer is a powerful force for good. Ultimately, we seek the well-being of others through our prayers. 1 Timothy 2:1 tells us that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people.
While text messaging is one of the most preferred methods of communication for people, and with praying for others being one way we put our love for others into action, why not combine the two?
Before You Begin
Ask the Holy Spirit what you should pray and who you should pray for. Invite him to guide you. Pray for anything the Spirit reveals or brings to your mind.
As You Pray
Ask the Lord to impress upon your heart and mind who you can text to share his love with them. Be sure to pray beforehand and ask the Holy Spirit to help you send the appropriate words, so they feel the love of Christ through your text.
Remember that God knows the needs of his people before you even ask him what to pray so keep in mind that your prayer texts don’t need to be deep. They can be as easy as,
“I’m praying for you.”
“God prompted me to pray for you. I just wanted you to know.”
“Lord Jesus, fill them with the power of your Holy Spirit to know how much you love them and are with them always.”
The important key to texting a prayer is to PRAY first!
