WHAT WE LEARNED

In Luke 5:1-11 Jesus calls his first disciples to come and follow him. It’s exciting! And it shows us that there is a choice to be made: will I follow Jesus or not? We can’t make ourselves into Christians (Jesus-followers). His forgiveness and the new kind of life he gives us is his gift to us!

TOMORROW’S SNACK

The snack for Tuesday is Sonic Popcorn Mix: Popcorn, pretzel rings, Cheerios, candy stars, red M&Ms, blue melting chocolate

TALK ABOUT IT

Here are the questions we talked about in snack time. Ask your child(ren) the questions and get a conversation going at home!

1. What’s your favorite club or activity you’re part of?

2. Have you ever been picked for a team or an activity you are good at?  Or one that you don’t think you are good at? 

3. What were the disciples doing when Jesus picked them to follow him? 
Answer: Their normal jobs – Fishing  

4. Do you think he chose them because they would be really good at following him? Had they done it before? Answer: No! They didn’t have any experience and they didn’t need any.

5. What did the disciples do? Stay at home? Go and pack up all their belongings?
Answer: Left everything behind and to follow Jesus right away. 

6. The Bible teaches us that Jesus wants everyone to follow him. What does it mean to follow Jesus since he is back in heaven, and we can’t see him?
Answer: We leave behind our old way of doing things, not our families! We live for him the way he wants us to live; not our own way.

Have you chosen to follow Jesus?  God wants each one of us to choose to Get In The Game and begin following him.
