WHAT WE LEARNED

Jesus Gives us JOY! Following Jesus doesn’t mean life with be easy. Paul and Silas chose to pray and sing, even in prison! Their Joy came from knowing Jesus was with them and God used their joy to help others to believe. Joy comes from Jesus…not our circumstances.

SONGS and MORE!

Memory Verse

2 Peter 1:3 “His dive power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”

TALK ABOUT IT

Here are the questions we talked about in snack time. Ask your child(ren) the questions and get a conversation going at home!

  1. How is following Jesus like being on a team with a coach?

Answer: We listen to him, trust him, and follow his plan - just like players follow a coach.

  2. Who were the disciples and which ones did you hear about today?

Answer: They were Jesus’ followers who learned from him and walked with him. Today you heard about Thomas and Peter.

  3. Was it suprising that the disciples still messed up even though they got to follow Jesus and learn from him in person before he died?

  4. What else did you find surprising?

  5. What did Peter do, and how did Jesus respond?

Answer: He doubted that Jesus rose from the dead - even though Jesus told them all what was going to happen.

  6. What does this teach us about Jesus’ love?

Answer: Jesus loves us even when we fail or doubt - his love never changes. He loved us first even when he knew we were broken and were going to fail! His love stays true no matter what! God promises his love and forgiveness and to never leave us when we grab onto Jesus.

  7. What does it look like to “Gear Up” when we mess up or doubt?

Answer: Turn back to Jesus, trust his truth and remember his love is bigger than our mistakes.

Monday Night @ Game On!

WHAT WE LEARNED

Jesus Gives us HOPE! God created everything good and created us to be with him. Sin broke our relationship with God and brought brokeness into the world…but God did not let it end there - He promised a SAVIOR, Jesus. Jesus game to fix what sin broke and because of him, we have HOPE now and forever.

TALK ABOUT IT

Here are the questions we talked about in snack time. Ask your child(ren) the questions and get a conversation going at home!

  1. Do you have rules at home?
Answer: For example maybe “Don’t eat candy for breakfast” or “Don’t hit your brother or sister.”?

  2. Have you ever messed up and broken one of those rules?

  3. What is the BIG RESCUE STORY?

Answer: The bible is one big story of God rescueing us from sin through Jesus. God promised a savior and promises forgiveness and eternal life when we grab onto Jesus.

  4. Why did Jesus have to die for us?

Answer: Because sin has a cost, and Jesus took our punishment for us.

  5. What happened after Jesus died and why does it matter?

Answer: Jesus rose from the dead, showing he beat sin and death - he has the victory. He is the only one who lived perfectly, that’s why he’s the only one that could do that!

  6. Why can we have HOPE when life feels broken or we keep messing up?

Answer: Because Jesus wins, is with us now, and will return to make everything new.

  7. How is following Jesus like “gearing up” for a game?

Answer: Just like players get ready with the right gear and focus on the coach, we get ready by listening to God, trusting him, and following his plan for our lives. We have to continue to learn more about him (read the Bible), to continue to gear up well as we grow not just our actual muscles, but also our God muscles!

Dollars vs. Coins to Help Kids Around the World

Throughout VBS, boys and girls will compete to raise money for Every Child Ministries who will provide sun protection products for children with albinism in Uganda. Your gifts can help provide items such as sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and protective clothing so children can play, learn, and thrive more safely in the sun.

How It Works

  • Boys put their dollars in the container marked BOYS.

  • Girls put their dollars in the container marked GIRLS.

  • The team with the most dollars wins!

The losing team will have a leader GUNKED!

What is GUNK?

Great question! We mix together a delightfully disgusting bucket of kid-safe goo, slime, and mystery mess, then pour it over the head of a brave leader!

But Wait... There's a Twist!

Put coins into the other team's container and it counts against their total!

  • Dollars count FOR your team.

  • Coins count AGAINST the other team.

So bring your dollars to help children in Uganda and Ghana, and bring your coins to sabotage the competition!

Let's work together to make a difference for children around the world while having a little messy fun along the way!
