Our team is comprised of men and women of all ages who are excited to partner with parents and influence the spiritual journey of the kids in our church. What will you do in this year to make a difference in the lives of the kids in our church? Consider joining our team!


What do I need to do to become an approved Children's Ministries Volunteer?

1. Download a Volunteer Application and Background Check Consent, HERE. Drop the forms by the church office, e-mail them to our Director of Children's Ministries, April Millard, or fax them to her attention at 219.464.7022.

2. Meet with the Children's Ministries Director to explore your unique skills and interests.

3. Attend New Volunteer Equipping part 1 (offered monthly)

4. Train alongside a seasoned volunteer

5. Attend New Volunteer Equipping, part 2 (offered several times a year. Pastor Josh will share the heart and vision of our children's ministry.

Nursery Ministry

  • Interact and spend time with infants-toddler aged children while building community with fellow volunteers.
  • No weekly preparation required.
  • Serve during a Sunday Service or Wednesday evenings during AWANA.
  • Must be 14 years or older to serve in our Infants Nursery.

Preschool Ministry

  • Develop relationships with 2-5 year olds as they discover the stories of the Bible and enjoy fun activities.
  • 30 minutes each week preparation required - curriculum provided.
  • Small Group Leaders supervise play, craft, and snack time.
  • Large Group Leaders teach the story and lead worship time.
  • Serve during a Sunday Service.

K-5th Grade Ministry

  • Small Group Leaders will connect with and mentor kids in a small group setting.
  • Large Group Leaders are outgoing, fun, up-front people who makes the Bible come alive each week teaching and organizing large group time.
  • Sound/Tech volunteers will properly run Power Point and/or sound on Sunday mornings for large group time.
  • Prep: Various based on position.
  • Serve during a Sunday Service.

Classroom Assistants

  • Assist the teachers with prepared lessons and activities while developing relationships with 2 year olds-5th graders as they discover the truths of the Bible.
  • No weekly preparation required.
  • Serve during a Sunday Service.

Calvary Kids' Connection Team

  • The goal of the CK Connection Team is to make each family feel welcome every time they walk through our doors!
  • Children's Welcome Center volunteers greet families as they arrive and assist new families in registering in KidCheck.  They also assist with classroom needs during services.
  • Greeters welcome new and returning families, show new families to their classrooms, and introduce them to their teachers between services.
  • Serve before/during a Sunday Service or Wednesday evenings before/during AWANA.


    • Awana leaders encourage children to memorize and recite scripture every week.
    • Weekly preparation varies.
    • Serve Wednesday evenings during the school year.
