Our local outreach mission at Calvary Church is to mobilize our entire church
community to cultivate relationships and provide resources to eternally
impact our local community with the love of Christ.

Local Events and Serving Opportunities

Join us as we show the love of Christ to others and bless our community! Here are just a few specific ways that you can be a part of this mission. If you are interested in other opportunities to serve, contact our Victoria Evans-Peasley, Sr. Director of Connections.

Men's Center

Half-Day Opportunity

The New Creations Men's Center helps men who are homeless find shelter and work. They sustain their ministry through their donation center which sells clothing, furniture and other items. Would you consider taking a few hours out of your day to help organize donations at the center? This is a great opportunity to gather your friends and family (including kids and students) and serve together!

Compass IFC

Homework helpers

Compass International Family Center provides language support and education, cultural training, and advocacy to immigrant, refugee, and international families adjusting to life in a foreign culture. Volunteers are needed on a weekly basis (Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings) to assist K-12th children with their homework. The children are equipped in conversational English, but need help with academics and language. Background screening is required. Contact Executive Director and Calvary Member Jessica Burkman (jburkman@compassifc.org; 219.477.8564) for more information.

Kids Hope Mentoring

TJ Elementary School

Calvary partners with Kids Hope USA and TJ Elementary School to carry out the mission of 'one mentor, one child, one hour each week'. Would you give hope to a child this year by becoming a Kids Hope Mentor? A mentor must be able to do four things: say the child's name, be faithful, believe in the child, and pray for the child. Contact Kids Hope Volunteer Director, Sarah Jarvis (sarah.ap.jarvis@gmail.com; 219.241.3088). There are also opportunities to be a Prayer Partner for this ministry. Contact Prayer Partner Coordinator, Suzann Wodetzki (swodetzki@frontier.com; 219.241.3028) for more information.

Host a Ladies Night

domestic violence shelter

The Caring Place is a shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. A great way to serve the women in shelter is to host an evening theme night with a meal and special activity (game night, movie, crafts, etc.).

Contact Local Outreach Director, Victoria Peasley for more information.
