Jon Costas

Elder Chair 2019
Interim Pastor of Ministry Operations

As part of Calvary’s move to a mutual leadership model, the elder board has recommended that Jon’s volunteer role as elder chair expand for the foreseeable future so that he can come alongside Al Lackey, pastor of operations (PO), and Josh Reasoner, lead teaching pastor (LTP), to lead the senior leadership team of Calvary Church and oversee key ministry areas not covered by the PO or LTP.

Jon oversees leadership development efforts as Calvary continues to adjust its leadership model to better fit the size and needs of a growing church serving the city of Valparaiso and surrounding communities. He aims to be accessible to the congregation for questions, concerns, or just conversation about the church. You can email him directly by clicking on the envelope below.

A 1975 graduate of Valparaiso High School, Jon Costas received his B.A. from St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana, and a law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1989, and a masters degree in practical theology from Wesley Seminary in 2017. Jon is currently the mayor of Valparaiso, and has held that office since 2004.
