Men's Center

Half-Day Opportunity

The New Creations Men's Center helps men who are homeless find shelter and work. They sustain their ministry through their donation center which sells clothing, furniture and other items.

Would you consider taking a few hours out of your day to help organize donations at the center? This is a great opportunity to gather your friends and family (including kids and students) and serve together!

Compass International Family Center

Compass International Family Center provides language support and education, cultural training, and advocacy to immigrant, refugee, and international families adjusting to life in a foreign culture. Contact Compass Coordinator and Calvary Member Heather VonTobel

Volunteers are needed at Compass on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings to tutor kids, provide childcare, or work with adults as conversation partners. Background screening is required.

Providing a healthy snack is a great way for you and/or your family/Life Group to serve at Compass. Many of the kids come hungry to Compass, and a healthy snack is always helpful. Provide snacks just one time on a Tuesday or Thursday evening, or commit to a monthly or weekly rotation.

Housing Opportunities Day Program

Housing Opportunities provides housing for the homeless, helps families keep their homes, and coaches sustainable life styles. Contact Housing Opportunities staff member and Calvary Member Shae Tym (219.286.3315)

Serve the homeless as a volunteer front desk clerk on a weekly basis by answering phones, assisting clients, and organizing donations. There are opportunities in this role to interact and build rapport with clients. Hours are during the day, but flexible. This serving opportunity is best suited for adults.

Provide lunch or dinner and conversation for the homeless weekday or evening as a means of showing grace and love during difficulty. Attendance can vary from a handful of adults and children, up to 40, depending on the season. This serving opportunity is best suited for adults or adult Life Groups.

The Women's Center of Northwest Indiana

The Women's Center of NWI works with women experiencing an unexpected pregnancy, offering them the best care and accurate information about the life they are carrying. Calvary hosts a Community Group of clients from the Women's Center. This group meets twice a month to encourage and prepare the mothers for motherhood and the first year of their child's life. Contact WCNWI Volunteer Coordinator and Calvary member Cynthia Rupp

Provide dinner or snacks just one time on a Wednesday evening, or commit to a monthly or bi-monthly rotation. You can also volunteer to serve at special events. This is a great serving opportunity for individuals and adult/student Life Groups.

The Caring Place Domestic Violence Shelter

The Caring Place is a shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. Contact Calvary Local Outreach Director, Victoria Peasley

A great way to serve the women in shelter is to host an evening theme night with a meal and special activity (game night, movie, crafts, etc.). This is a great serving opportunity for women in adult Life Groups.
