The new Awana Club year begins Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008 at 6:30pm.  Please come at least 15 minutes early if you need to register.  See you on September 3rd!

AWANA (www.awana.org) is an international children’s program offered by Calvary Church as a means for partnering with
parents in raising up and training their children. The AWANA name comes from 2 Timothy 2:15 which says: “Approved Work-
men Are Not Ashamed.” AWANA meets each Wednesday throughout the school year from 6:30 to 8:15 pm, beginning the
Wednesday after Labor Day and continuing through April. Everyone meets in the gym at 6:30 for the opening flag ceremony
and announcements. The program is then divided into three segments: Game time, Handbook time, and Council time.

...offers clubbers the opportunity to participate as team members in physical activities that can help them develop team spirit, good sportsmanship, coordination, and self-confidence.
...consists of interaction between individual clubbers and their leaders. Each clubber has a handbook
to work in. These books are designed to teach children about God by memorizing Scripture passages and reading their Bibles. By simply completing 2 or 3 sections in their handbooks each club night, with no more than 2 helps per section, a child can complete a handbook by the end of the club year.
...includes singing, announcements of upcoming events, contests, and age appropriate
instruction from the Bible covering topics that will introduce who Jesus is and how we can
have a personal relationship with Him.

Who can participate in AWANA? Children ages three through sixth grade can participate in AWANA. Boys and girls who are
ages 3 & 4 (must be starting Kindergarten in 1 or 2 years) will be in the Cubbies program. Boys and girls who are in Kinder-
garten, 1st or 2nd grade will be in the Sparks program. Boys and girls who are in 3rd through 6th grade will be in the T&T
(Truth and Training) Club.
