Knute aids in the pulpit ministry and serves as co-teacher with Pastor Lionel, in addition to coaching the pastoral staff.  He was the former Senior Pastor of The Chapel in Akron, Ohio, a position he held for over 25 years.  He teaches graduate courses for Moody Bible Institute and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and has written several books, including You Decide:  Five Beliefs That Change My LifeThe Great Human Race, and two commentaries for Holman.  He graduated from both Grace College and Grace Seminary and earned a DMin from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

Fun Facts About Knute:

Family: wife Jeanine since 1962; two married daughters, Elise and Alison; three grandchildren.

Biggest influence:  Grandmother Rosa, who taught and modeled love and mercy.

Music in my car:  sacred or news program.

Favorite word:  hope.

Least favorite word:  "No way."

Sounds and noise I love:  grandkids coming, or Lake Michigan.

Noise I hate:  snoring during my sermons.

Favorite movies:  "Chariots of Fire." 

Favorite books:  Colossians, Grudem's Systematic Theology, The Great Human Race. 

Spare time:  wind surfing, biking, hiking, basketball.

Best invention:  smart phone.

Another profession I'd like to try:  pro basketball (but it may be too late)

A profession I never want to try:  pro basketball  (the embarrassment)

Passions:  understanding or explaining grace, the healthy church, hustle

Biggest frustrations:  injustice, church divisiveness

When I get to heaven I want to hear God say:  "I know you!"
