You can find a place to belong at Calvary. Our church community draws people from every social strata and the many cultural backgrounds that Valparaiso has to offer. We’re a big church with a lot of activities and opportunities for people; yet we’ve kept the feel of a small, closely-connected community. Come see for yourself.

Small Groups

If we’re honest, we’re all being influenced by someone. Small Groups are about choosing to be connected to and influenced by people who want to follow Jesus. The goal of Small Groups is to move you out of the church row and into a circle of people you meet with face-to-face for genuine life-to-life community.

You May Be Asking

How early should I arrive before service?

Our Sunday morning worship services are at 8:15a, 9:45a, and 11:15a. We recommend arriving approximately fifteen minutes prior so that you’ll have plenty of time to find a parking space, pick up a cup of coffee, and choose a seat in the worship center. Overflow parking is in the Thomas Jefferson Middle School stadium lot next door.

What do I need to do when I arrive?

We have guest parking marked near our main entrance. As you enter the church, you’ll be greeted by a member of our Guest Connections team, who can direct you to the worship center or the Calvary Kids check-in area and answer any questions you have. Stop by Guest Services, just outside the worship center, to pick up a gift before or after the worship service.

What is a worship service like at Calvary?

A worship service is approximately one-hour long and includes worship music and a sermon. Worship music at Calvary is contemporary and people are encouraged to participate in worship by standing and singing.

What kind of sermon will I hear?

Our teaching team is passionate about preaching through books or sections of the Bible so the context and scope of the book’s message is clear. A typical sermon lasts approximately 30-35 minutes and ties biblical principles to life application. The pastor’s outline is provided on the Calvary app and on projector screens. Listeners are encouraged to follow along in their Bibles or with a Bible app.

We offer a similar program online every week for families to enjoy together at home. Learn more about our Sunday morning in-person and online experiences >

On Sunday mornings, staff will help you check your children into our secure children’s ministries, find your child’s room, and meet their small group leader. Learn more about our Calvary Kids programs.

Middle and high school students are encouraged to participate in worship services on Sunday morning and volunteer in one of our many ministry areas if they wish. On Sunday evenings during the school year, Calvary Students meets for their own worship gathering with relevant teaching, great music, and a lot of fun.

What should I wear to services?

Dress however you feel most comfortable. Most of our community dresses semi-casual, although you’ll see both dress attire and jeans and tshirts in our services.
