“One of the most powerful influences on young people today is their need to belong—to fit in and to be accepted by those they consider to be their peers. Research shows that the need to belong is growing as our culture fragments into smaller and smaller pieces...Belonging can’t be bought, it can’t be forced, but it can be taught, nurtured and modeled.” - Mark Gregston. This teaching, nurturing, and modeling are exactly what we are striving for in Student Ministries at Calvary Church. We are striving not only to help teens find belonging with one another, but connect them to the larger theme of living life for God and finding our belonging in HIM.
With this heart for belonging, connection, and discipleship in mind I want to share the structure the leadership of student ministries is putting into place this fall. After many months of work, research, prayer, and meetings, I want to share three specific changes you will notice this coming year: Youth Group Identities, Covenant Teen Groups, & Ways to Get Involved. It’s our hope and prayer that you, as parents, will embrace, support, and partner with us in these changes so that we might most effectively have your teens grow in their relationship with God.
