AWANA clubs

AWANA (www.awana.org) is an international children’s program offered by Calvary Church as a means for partnering with parents in raising up and training their children.  The AWANA name comes from 2 Timothy 2:15 which says “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed”.  AWANA meets on Wednesday nights throughout the school year from 6pm-8pm, and is available to children ages 3 – 6th grade.  After checking in at the Children’s Welcome Center, Cubbies (preschoolers) meet in their classroom, while Sparks (K-2nd graders) and T&T clubbers (3rd-6th graders) meet in The Well for worship and announcements at 6pm. The program is then divided into three segments: Game Time, Handbook Time, and Council Time.

Game Time Offers children the opportunity to participate as team members in fun and challenging physical activities that can help them develop team spirit, good sportsmanship, coordination, and self-confidence.

Handbook Time... Consists of interaction between the child and their leader.  Each child gets a handbook that is divided into sections of various activities, including bible memorization.  The leader listens to the child recite scripture, and more importantly helps the child understand it and begin to think about applying it to their life.

Council Time... includes singing, contests, and age appropriate instruction from God’s Word.  The purpose is to share the good news about Jesus and to encourage boys and girls with application of God’s word to their life.
